Back Door Legislation Bad for Democracy
A year or so ago the United States government put a ban on on line gambling in the United States. Some cited the ban for “moral reasons” and that it could be used for terrorist.
The “up scale of hypocrisy” of our United States senate to ban gambling on line is wrong
and is without the vote of the people of the United States of America.
Is gambling immoral. I would say no no more then playing darts for money or paying sports people billions of dollars a year. Now with that said a person should not gamble their life away, or the collage savings or mortgage a house that is over the top.
if you or some one you know has ever played the lottery that is gambling by definition.
Ever put a “friendly wager on a Super Bowl ? That is gambling. you get the point.
The troubling part of this is the back door legislation, this is how the government tried to force the ‘Real Id” act upon the American people but the voice of the free united States kept up the vigilance and the UIGEA ( unlawful internet gambling enforcement act) another back door legislation attached to the
Port Security Bill containing this prohibition.
The key word here is back door legislation. A coward attacks from behind and when the United States Congress knows that a piece of legislation will not meet the muster of free people they sneak there legislation to other bills. Currently the United States government is attempting to ban firearms (guns) in public parks across the united States. now if this legislation gets signed then the robbers and thugs will know that innocent people are unarmed and are left to the wolves this piece of legislation is on the back side of a credit card reform bill that acting President said he would sign.
So the United States government bans online gambling but not porn which is more destructive the gambling. porn is a multi billion dollar industry and that is immoral.
Porn has the Greek root word porneia sexual immorality= (fornication)
porneu to indulge unlawful lust (homosexuality, adultery, etc).
The bible said the thief come by night or the thief come by disguised. Back door legislation has become the norm in politics but this violates the democratic way. When it come to simple things like gambling the people needed to vote; the real id the people needed to vote any thing that may hinder or remove our freedoms we the people of the United States of America needs to vote on it. Arbitrary legislation is bad for the USA. One example is in Oregon the legislature decided that smoking needed to b e banned from bars and other adult areas. I do not support smoking I hate it personally however it is not the right of government to just decide a personal choice such as smoking or on line gambling and if gambling is so bad then why are there almost 2500 gambling casinos in the United States and that does not count lottos or other forms of gambling.
here then is a quote in closing from James Madison
“ I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power
then by violent and sudden usurpations:”
Back door legislation is wrong and dangerous to democracy.
